Singer-songwriter and actress, Summer Anan, embodies the spirit of the Alexander Hamilton quote: “Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.” At just 14, the fiercely-driven powerhouse talent is steadfast in her beliefs as a young feminist. Summer is also a small-town girl who, from the age of 6, has possessed the steely resolve to achieve big dreams. 

“When I set my mind to something, I think about it all the time and work on it all the time.  I know it will happen,” the Wall, New Jersey based artist says. She continues: “With my singing, acting, and performing, I hope to share a message that you are strong enough to get through anything.”

Summer is a well-rounded performer who was singing and writing songs as soon as she could speak—her mom has the videos to prove it. She grew up in a musical household with an always-singing and creatively nurturing mother. She was a competitive child and always rose to the top in the endeavors she pursued, from karate to performing. “I was a theater kid. I loved performing and always aspired to the lead roles,” Summer reveals. “One time, I remember watching Stranger Things, and thinking, ‘I could do that.’ And, actually, I did get an audition for that show. When I get obsessed with something, I follow through.” Because of her hard work, and commitment to weekly acting, singing, and dance classes, Summer is emerging as a promising pop artist with a well-developed sense of self. 

As an actress, Summer is on the rise, fielding auditions and callbacks weekly. She works closely with talent magnet and acting manager Jackie Reid from Lil Angels Unlimited in LA. Summer is represented by acclaimed talent agency, DDO Kids. She also studies the art of acting under internationally renowned acting coach, Billy Hufsey, best known for his roles in the series Fame and Days of Our Lives.

Today, she steps forward as a singer-songwriter with her debut single, “Love You Like That,” a co-write with producer Christian Medice (Pink, Halsey, Lovelytheband, and Dixie D’Amelio). Summer contributed to “Love You Like That” select lyrics, arrangement ideas, and she added the song’s bridge. “Love You Like That” is a dreamy dose of ethereal pop showcasing Summer’s pristine vocals which effortlessly span subtle low-tones to richly expressive hook-singing. It’s a song she has emotionally taken ownership of, shifting its intention from wadding in heartbreak to empowerment. “It can really apply to anyone, friends, family, and people you’ve dated. It’s a song about staying strong,” Summer says. 

On future releases, Summer will showcase her writing more because of a recent epiphany. She has realized she can channel her love of storytelling into songwriting.  Summer’s lyrics promise to be personal and intimate, shining a light on toxic relationships, family life, and girl power. Up next, Summer is planning on following up “Love You Like That” with with 2 more original songs that are almost ready for release. 

It’s Summer’s follow-through attitude, and her varied entertainment gifts, that make her poised to be a household talent in the spirit of singer-actresses such as Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, two performers who she deeply respects. “I’m realizing to make it, it takes practice, practice, and even more practice,” she says with a good-natured laugh. “I can picture myself performing as a small-town kid in front of a big crowd. It gives me chills just thinking about it!”
